Architectural FX has won a Gold Award at the Build Back Better Awards last week for their Ltwo® Battery product. Architectural FX is the exclusive UK partner for apl, the German manufacturer of Ltwo®. The award was presented at a ceremony in the Minster Building in London last Thursday following the Circular Lighting Live day of talks and presentations.
Premise for Build Back Better
The Build Back Better Awards focuses on bringing high design values to whole communities in all sectors of the built environment. The Build Back Better initiative wants to inspire industry leaders and the design community to ‘rethinking our collective future and devising the tools that will take us there.‘
The Gold Build Back Better Award, achieved by LTwo® Battery, is given for true innovation and unique points of difference in built environment products.
LTwo® Battery-the ultimate lamp- luminaire
The new generation LTwo® battery offers simple, quick installation. It gives the same benefits as the LTwo® magnet, with 13 different optics. The nano-optic technology delivers high outputs in a tiny structure of just 16.4 mm. With impressive glare control of up to a UGR of 16. LTwo® battery is a battery version using contact end caps to click in place. This is the ultimate ‘lamp luminaire’, easy to install and de-install. No new wiring is required. This allows endless possibilities to ‘future proof’ a lighting installation where replacements with either alternative optics, colour temperature, or wattage, or all three, can be used in the future space. This approach is already proving successful with clients who require a higher intensity of light over specific areas, post installation. A tighter beam version can replace the existing optic.
A circular design approach
The system offers a versatile circular approach and is as easy to change as an old fluorescent lamp. Two® battery is TM66 independently certified by the LIA, with a high score of 2.5. Fixtures can be reused and repurposed according to the design requirements. With no additional installation costs or disruption.
LTwo® is SELV, at 48Vdc. It can be safely installed and replaced, without need for professional electricians. This offers end users and building owners enhanced safety and reassurance, as well as cost savings, which can be considerable when considering multiple buildings.
A lighting integration philosophy
A key part of Architectural FX’s integration philosophy is finding ways to design lighting into smaller spaces and furniture. The development of the battery LTwo® forms the next stage of this journey. It allows depth reduction to 22mm, whilst retaining the same optical control, output and tiltability of the luminaire.
Like the magnet version of LTwo® the battery fixture mounts onto and into architectural structures.
Cat A possibilities
The system offers potential to be a solution for many applications including Cat A fit out. Other applications include cove lighting, ceiling integration, task lighting, shelf lighting and many more.
