ROLL OUT: Atis Reflects Brand Freshness Through London Store

Atis Food Stores is currently rolling out a new lighting design concept. They have appointed lighting designers , There’s Light, who have worked together with Daytrip Studio for the first 10 stores.
Atis is a health and sustainability focused ‘fast food’ restaurant brand. They aim to serve tasty, plant-based food for the conscientious consumer. ‘Food that’s full of flavour and purpose’
Atis is expanding its site locations in London and each new location has been thoughtfully designed by Daytrip Studio to reflect atis’s signature aesthetic—clean, calm, and welcoming. The lighting design concept is based on the ambition to achieve a hierarchy of brightness to assist the customer through their store journey. A cooler colour temperature of 3500K was used to define the freshness of greens and green salad. An important part of the fresh menu.
The latest atis store to open is Atis Southbank Place, launched on 26th August 2025. It forms part of Atis’s continued expansion across London.
Architectural FX was called on to help redesign an existing pendant luminaire. This luminaire lights the counter and food areas. The main island with food display called ‘The Line’ is emphasized as a destination for customers. Its importance is highlighted normally in yellow and also via the strong lighting. Ongoing maintenance issues needed to be resolved. These created many problems for both the client and design team. Each time a fixture failed, replacements were difficult to get hold of and electricians were required for the installation.

Existing rods were redeployed for Architectural FX’s new custom designed apl LTwo® luminaire which houses 4 number 280mm white fittings. The 25 degree ‘P1’ types are used to light the food ‘Line’ and the 40 degree ‘P2’ types are used as ambient lighting in the larger stores like Southbank Place. Both types use 3500K colour temperature and are Casambi enabled. Making changes to lighting scenes and outputs via a user-friendly interface is simple and easy.
Fabio A P Cristini of There’s Light is very pleased with the results;
“APL fixtures provided us with a wide range of optics and CCTs helping us to find the optimum solution for Atis Old Street. The incredible magnetic system was factored into the decision-making process, ensuring easy maintenance and future-proofing the design. ‘’
The easy maintenance of the system means that fixtures can be demounted and replaced by simply unclipping them from the base of the luminaire plate and installing new ones. No electrician onsite is required. Architectural FX holds a stock of fixtures to ensure fast replacement and minimal hassle for the client.
